I know some people who put their red shower curtains in the wash and substitute the normal detergent with the soda crystals. You can even use some vinegar instead of a condistioner. Note that I haven’t tried the vinegar myself but with so many testimonials I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for you – except for the smell.
