Would a black pair of dress pants with a grey and black sports coat look wrong?
I am thinking about going to a christmas party and the black jacket is torn. Just wandering if it would look Ok to wear one of grey and black. With possibly a maroon shirt and tie to match?
That's the beauty of black, it goes with almost anything. I've worn gray sport coats with black slacks in the past, and it looked alright. Your color scheme sounds acceptable. Just make sure your accents (Ties, shirts, shoes, etc) match some part of your dominant attire and you should be fine.
