Jetting off to a fabulous tropical destination for your wedding? Excellent! Discover what to look for in a beachy bridesmaid dress.
Most beach wedding gowns are made from light fabrics, and that also works best for the bridesmaids' outfits. Stiff satiny fabric is miserable on a hot humid beach. Summery materials like organdy, linen, or seersucker are fantastic options. It is the perfect look for the beach, and will also feel good to wear in a warm climate. Knee length is usually the best choice for a beach wedding. A very casual strapless cotton dress with a gathered bodice would be the one kind of long dress that wouldn't feel like too much for the beach. They will look chic and breezy, especially worn with bare feet and beach theme bridesmaid jewelry.
Cheerful colors are the most appropriate for a wedding by the water. I always think that black dresses look completely out of place for a destination wedding. Expresso or gray are not the best for a sunny beach. Deep cobalt is one of the few darker colors which is suitable by the water. Really brightly colored dresses in magenta or orange are fabulous for a destination wedding ceremony. Tone them down with a sash in a solid color like cocoa, or make them even brighter with a yellow ribbon at the waist. Give your attendants brightly colored bouquets to carry. Another option is hot pink lily bouquets. Nothing would be more fabulous than rainbow colored cascades of orchids, if your budget allows it.
If you prefer softer hues, consider a gorgeous sea glass palette. Lovely soft greens, blues, and pale lavender are just gorgeous in combination. Each woman can select a style she likes in the range of colors. Crinkled cotton voile dresses would be lovely in sea glass colors. Your friends could select a halter, strapless, or spaghetti strap neckline – they don't all have to wear the same exact style. For a slightly dressier take on these colors, choose dresses in silk chiffon. They are soft and feminine. Create heavenly bouquets using all of the shades together.
