What happens when threads of cotton, wool and silk fabrics are burnt? How do they smell?

Cotton is a plant product and consists mainly of cellulose type structures. As such, it contains C, H, and O and when it burns, it burns cleanly with little odor.
Wool and silk are animal products and in addition to the C, H, and O, also contain N and S. These materials when burnt produce a distinctive odor. Think "burnt hair".
